Furniture Care

How should I clean and care for my Magnussen Home furniture?
Magnussen Home finishes are naturally resistant to minor everyday hazards and accidents; however, precautions are necessary to maintain the beauty of your wood furniture. Dust with a soft clean cloth slightly moistened with water, then dry completely with a dry clean cloth. Always rub in the direction of the wood grain. Keep cigarettes, hot dishes, moisture and harsh solvents such as nail polish and alcohol away from furniture. Do not place beverages directly on furniture. Use pads beneath accessories when writing or eating. Remove spills and smudges immediately. Pliable materials such as plastic or rubber should not be left on a wood surface; they can damage the finish. Furniture should not be placed near heat, outlets, windows, or in direct sunlight.

How does the Touch Dimmer feature work?
Most Magnussen Home nightstands have a touch dimmer feature. At the back of the unit is a flat metal strip that controls the dimmer plug on the electrical outlets. The dimmer is turned ‘on’ or ‘off’ by touching any part of this bar. The power outlet is located on the underside of the case. This unit consists of three outlet plugs and one wall plug (to supply power to the unit). Only the plug labeled “dimmer” is controlled by the metal strip. It is suggested that a lamp or similar item be plugged into this outlet. The other two plugs are “hot”, or always on and are not controlled by the metal strip. These plugs are ideal for use with an alarm clock or re-charging cords. Please note, that newer style eco-friendly light bulbs in a lamp that has three settings are not compatible with this touch lighting system. It is recommended that incandescent bulbs are used.

My touch dimmer feature is not working. What can I do to fix it?
Ensure the dimmer feature cord is plugged into a working outlet. Note that newer style eco-friendly light bulbs (florescent, LED) are not compatible with this touch lighting system. It is recommended that incandescent bulbs are used. If you are unable to solve the problem by checking connections and light bulbs, please contact the Magnussen Home dealer you made your purchase from or an authorized Magnussen Home. They will work with Customer Service on your behalf to ensure the correct parts are ordered and installed.
