  • This mandatory program is to help prevent terrorist weapons from being transported into the U.S.
  • Importers of record are required to submit electronic data elements to the US Customs Border Protection Agency (CBP) prior to container loading on the vessel.
  • Magnussen is in compliance with US Customs Border Protection Agency.
  • C-TPAT stands for Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism.
  • Launched November 2001 for voluntary US importers with the US Customs Border Protection Agency (CBP) to prevent terrorist weapons being imported and ensuring global supply chains are secure.

  • SOLAS stands for Safety of Life at Sea with the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
  • Launched July 2016 for mandatory importers worldwide that the IMO adopted changes that will require every packed export containers to have a verified container weight as a condition for vessel loading. Changes were made due to the following:
  • Reduce loss of containers from vessels
  • Provide assurance to other parties in supply chain
  • Improve safety of the workforce, vessel & equipment
  • The declaration of the accurate gross mass of a packed container is critical to maritime safety
  • Magnussen Home Furnishings is in compliance with the new IMO SOLAS standards.
  • GCC stands for General Conformity Certification.
  • Applies to all products which are subject to a consumer product safety rule or similar rule, ban, standard or regulation.
  • Is a self-certification or a supplier’s declaration of conformity based on a “reasonable testing program” which provides reasonable assurance that each product complies with all standards or regulations.
  • Magnussen Home Furnishings is in compliance with GCC standards.
  • To combat trafficking of illegal wildlife, fish and a broad range of plants/plant products.
  • It is unlawful to import certain plants and plant products without an import declaration.
  • All solid woods by species and amounts per container must be listed on every shipping document to the US.

  • Goals include attaining and maintaining healthy air quality by reducing the amount of formaldehyde in manufactured materials.
  • First phase for initial standards of acceptable formaldehyde levels began January 1, 2009, second phase began in 2011.
  • Strict record keeping of all batch lots by customer purchase order must be maintained at the factory for two years.
  • Importer of Record is liable for all infractions if board is not CARB P2 compliant.
  • All labels include; fabricator’s name, date the finished good was produced and statement ”California 93120 phase 2 compliant for formaldehyde”.

  • Requires Magnussen Home Furnishings to provide a “clear and reasonable” warning to California customers before exposing them to one of the 900 listed chemicals.
  • California Prop 65 requires warning labels on consumer goods products if any one of the 900 chemicals, including but not limited to wood dust, is present even in trace amounts.
  • Magnussen Home Furnishings is in compliance with CA Prop 65 regulation.
  • The state of California’s standard (TB117-2013), outlines the changes in flammability testing saying that as of January 1, 2014, manufacturers may transition from the open flame test process to the new methods for smolder resistance of cover fabrics, barrier materials, resilient filling materials, and decking materials for use in upholstered furniture.
  • SB1019: Labelling shall indicate whether or not the product contains added flame retardant chemicals.
  • All of Magnussen Homes upholstered products are third party tested and passes the California standard for flame retardant and is standardized for all upholstered product sold to all consumers.
  • Magnussen Home Furnishings is in compliance with all upholstered furniture flammability standards.
  • The conflict mineral rule applies to a company that uses minerals including tantalum, tin, gold or tungsten.
  • Magnussen Home Furnishings does not contain any known minerals in our products that are listed in the Conflict Minerals rule.
  • Stands for American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
  • Is an international standards organization that develops and publishes voluntary consensus technical standards for a wide range of materials, products, systems and services.
  • ASTM F2057-14/F3096-14 is the standard safety specification for clothing storage units and bunk beds with applicable labeling requirements.
  • Magnussen Home Furnishings passes all third parties testing which is completed on all products that are required to be tested for tipping per the requirements of the ASTM.
  • In addition, all case pieces over 30 inches in height (except nightstands); will include a tipping restraint (wall anchor kit) that must be installed by the consumer.
  • There is a new label that is being placed on case goods exceeding 30” in height or higher to promote child safety awareness “Anchor It and Protect A Child”.
  • ASTM D6007 is the standard test method for determining formaldehyde concentration in Air from Wood Products.

  • Magnussen’s Asian Distribution Center (ADC) in Vietnam is fumigated four times a year.
  • All containers are fumigated before they are exported to ensure no exotic pests and diseases are entering into the country while permitting reasonably rapid clearance of containers. Timber insects pose a significant Quarantine risk in all countries and accordingly all wooden packing material used in the export packing are fumigated.
  • All fumigations have a certificate by a qualified service company and accompany all shipping documents.
  • Magnussen’s Asian Distribution Center (ADC) is moisture controlled from 52-62% with a dehumidification system to avoid mold forming on our product.
  • It is electronically recorded every 30 minutes with permanent records of the humidity conditions kept on file.
  • Test products are regularly tested and recorded throughout the year on each various levels of racking.
